Infused with
New Zealand.

We celebrate New Zealand’s unique flora with every jar.

In this hectic modern world, more and more of us are becoming aware of our surroundings beyond the immediate. What are we washing down the drain? Where does our packaging go when we're finished with it? What is that stuff made of? What wonderful options lurk in our backyard, ready to be enjoyed?

Equal parts old-fashioned and restlessly experimental, Treebrush Apothecary infuses the reknowned healing properties of choice New Zealand plants like Kawakawa and Horopito into simple but delicious everyday products...without leaving you with unnecessary plastic to put into landfill.

Straightforward ingredients, home-made in New Zealand, tiny footprint. This is the core of what Treebrush Apothecary does.

Explore Treebrush Apothecary ’s kawakawa balms.

Kawakawa (piper excelsum) is a plant that is endemic to New Zealand. Its heart-shaped leaves are known for their anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antimicrobial properties. It has historically been an important medicinal herb for both Maori, and the settlers that followed. It can be used as a poultice, consumed as tea, chewed for toothache, etc.

Convenient and portable, our kawakawa balms are made by infusing dried kawakawa leaves in oil, then blending that oil with rich butters, beeswax and essential oils to make a potent skin-healing balm. A little goes a long way! Kawakawa balm can reduce inflammation and irritation, speed healing, soothe pain, nourish damaged skin, and it creates a protective barrier.

Kawakawa balm is useful for:

  • Dry or cracked skin
  • Chapped lips
  • Eczema and psoriasis
  • Cuts, scrapes, abrasions
  • Nappy rash
  • Razor burn
  • Bruises
  • Dry or damaged cuticles
  • Chafing
  • Mild acne
And so much more.
