What the heck is Kawakawa Balm?
Kawakawa is a native New Zealand bush whose leaves have famously anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and analgesic properties. Treebrush Apothecary balms infuse these leaves into a skin-nourishing carrier oil, then blend with natural butters and waxes, a few choice essential oils, and packaged in convenient, reusable tins/jars. It can soothe and help to heal all manner of angry skin – bug bites, dry or cracked skin, chapped lips, cuts, scrapes, abrasions, eczema & psoriasis, razor burn, overwashed hands, and so much more. The limit is your imagination!
Why Buzzbox?
A “honey balm” has always been on the cards for Treebrush Apothecary, owing to its soothing and healing powers – and the fact that it’s quite delicious. Yes, we went there, and we hope your lips do too. A barrier balm has always been on the cards as well, as a follow-up to the feedback that our classic kawakawa balms absorb so much more readily than other products on the market. Which is a good thing, mind!
This formula is a flavour and fragrance bomb, slightly heavy and sticky to the touch at first but excellent at shielding skin from the elements and allowing it to heal. It also contains our kawakawa and horopito infused hemp seed oil for a soothing, healing, anti-inflammatory kick, and a delightful mix of fragrant essential oils to complement the delicious honey and beeswax base note.
Why Buzzbox instead of Thuck, Thun, No Regerts or Mellow? While this balm is soothing and anti-inflammatory like the rest of the range, this balm contains lanolin, lecithin, honey and a higher percentage of beeswax than our other balms. As a result, it sits on the skin for longer and is ideal for protecting it in harsh environments, or as a barrier over angry and healing skin. It’s an excellent lip balm alternative, and is a little more waterproof than the rest of the range.
How big is this container?
Aside from fear-of-commitment sized, our 10mL Minis are pocket-sized, lip balm-sized, whoops-there-you-are-sized, glovebox-sized, Santa mode-sized, take-on-an-adventure-sized! These tins seal well and take knocks…we’ve even had people put them through the wash and plop out of the dryer intact…they are battle-ready.
To use: take a small amount of balm and gently massage into the affected area until it absorbs. If the balm is cold, you may find it easier to run your fingernail across it backwards. It can also be used as a lip balm – a little goes a long way.
Ingredients: Kawakawa and horopito infused hemp seed oil, beeswax, honey, soy lecithin, cetyl alcohol, stearic acid, benzoin styrax, amyris essential oil, ginger essential oil, cedarwood essential oil, vitamin E.
